The Tickets Have Been Bought!!

Yes, the round-trip tickets have finally been scheduled and purchased! That's one BIG step taken care of and out of the way. Becky and I leave January the 16th for beautiful Vienna, Austria. That's...42 days and counting. Oh my, time is going to fly like nothing else. It already has been since September when we got back from the States. We're just that much closer now.

I thought I'd list some of the things I'm looking forward to the most about Austria:

1) Snow! We get real snow (as opposed to fake snow, ha) so rarely here in Athens that this will be my first time being in a country with a really cold winter. Since we'll be there in January, it seems likely that there will be snow, at least more than I'm used to :)
2) Learning random German phrases and words that will be of no use to me once we leave, unless I go back someday (which I certainly wouldn't be opposed to).
3) Staying at the "Airport to Heaven", which is the guest house about ten minutes away from the Oasis by train. We stayed there for a few days last time we were in Vienna, and loved it. Very cozy and warm, which will be necessary in January :) Odd name, I must say. I keep wanting to say "Stairway to Heaven" or "Highway to Heaven".
4) I put this one at my own risk, for it may come back to bite me in the face : learning to cook. Yes, I am about to learn the joys of figuring out what we can afford on a budget and learning to make a meal out of it. I think it will be a bit challenging, considering I barely cook now, on my parents' budget. I really think Becky will excel in this area, so I'm glad I'll be with her :) We'll have two roommates as well, so I think I'll be alright - won't starve, at any rate.
5) Vienna, and Austria in general is just such a beautiful place with lots of sights and history, and I'm really looking forward to exploring it all and learning new things.
6) My parents helped begin the Oasis ministry, and I was born in Baaden, so in a way, it will sort of be like returning to my roots. Sort of. If I may be so cliche :) Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing the different kinds of ministries they'll be putting us to work in. It'll be interesting to be involved in one kind of refugee ministry after growing up in a different kind.

Sorry if the blog has been inactive lately. Becky and I hope to get a picture of ourselves up soon, so you can actually see the faces that will be doing all this traveling :)

Forty-two more days and there really will be a lot more things to share!
